2025-2026 native heritage jersey design
honoring the roots of native culture and how it has shaped the game of lacrosse was the goal of this project. using the map of the Haudenosaunee territory, also known as the Iroquois Confederacy or the Six Nations, is a historic alliance of six indigenous nations in northeastern north america. these jerseys were debuted during the annual native heritage night in the swarm’s 2026 season.
2026-2027 native heritage jersey design - in progress
working closely with cherokee nation and our native players, the 2026 native heritage jersey is currently in the production process. featured is the cherokee noon day sun, an important symbol in the cherokee nation representing balance, renewal, and the cyclical nature of time which serves as the foundation of the jersey. Custom Cherokee symbols spelling “Georgia” replace the usual georgia stinger logo on the chest. The upper back features “Anytime, Anyplace, Anybody” translated into Cherokee, connecting one of the Swarm’s core messages for the 2026 season. the shorts sport the same woven noon day sun pattern down the outside of the leg. each native player will have his indigenous name featured on his back to honor his roots.
the custom typeface for the cherokee syllabary known as Tsalagi featured on the jersey are based off of the original georgia jersey logo. each symbol was created with intention. ᏣᏥᏱ / tsatsiyi, pronounced za-ji-yi, is the cherokee word for georgia. the phrase following is ᎢᏳᏍᏘᏉ / iyusdigwo translates to “anytime, anyplace, anybody”
